Meet Kristin Pruitt
As a child, Kristin Pruitt dreamed of being a brain surgeon. Though her executive office at Lake City Bank is far from the operating room, this attorney is saving lives. As a Board Member for Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, Kristin plays a big role in supporting the Club in its mission to enable all youth to reach their full potential—50% of Alumni say it’s the Club that “saved their life”.
Becoming a GBK
Now, Kristin is taking her experience with the Club to the next level as an advocate and mentor with Greatest Kids, two challenging roles she embraces whole-heartedly.
“I understand how life-altering a mentor can be in the life of a child,” says Kristin. “I have been blessed with wonderful mentors throughout my life and I want to pay that forward.”
And pay it forward she will. As a Great Big Kid, Kristin will mentor 12-year-old, Sonya to help her prepare for her Junior Youth of the Year contest and raise awareness for the Club.
“I hope to help Sonya learn to set goals and understand what she needs to achieve them. I also hope she will learn the importance of making good decisions,” she explains.
A Lasting Impact
When asked why she said yes to becoming a Great Big Kid, Kristin’s response is straight-forward:
“I am always so impressed by the raw potential in each child I meet at Boys & Girls Club,” she explains. “Potential that can be strengthened by strong relationships with people who can help them navigate through tough choices.”
A simple concept, Kristin knows that it just takes one caring adult to impact the life of a child forever. She also knows you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to accomplish that.
