Meet Vicky Holland
If there's one thing Vicky Holland knows how to do, it's make noise! President of Pathfinders Advertising and Marketing Group, Vicky has years of experience doing just that for businesses here in South Bend.
Fortunately for Boys & Girls Clubs, Vicky also knows how to make a difference in her community. That’s why she will spend the next few months making noise for the Club and mentoring 13-year-old Club Member, Christianna.
Meet Christianna
What grade are you in? “7th grade.”
How long have you been a Member of Boys & Girls Club? “Two years! I started in 5th grade.”
Do you have any hobbies? “I’m on the track and cheerleading teams at my school.”
What makes you really happy? “Seeing other people happy, writing and shopping.”
What’s the greatest challenge you have overcome? “Finding my friends.”
What are you really good at? “Writing!”
Getting on Board
"How could I say no to being a Great Big Kid?” asks Vicky. “It’s hard not to be struck by statistics and the obstacles facing Boys & Girls Club Members.” Currently, 3 out of 4 Club Members qualify for free lunch and 8% of O.C. Carmichael Members are homeless.
“It’s very easy to live in your own world and not pay attention to the need in your own community,” she says. So attention is just what Vicky plans to bring to the
Club and provide for her mentee as a Great Big Kid.
“I look forward to interacting with Christianna and sharing new and different experiences,” says Vicky.
Making an Impact
A mother to two daughters, Vicky hopes to introduce Christianna to her own family and form a relationship that lasts a lifetime.
“I just hope to teach my mentee that anything is possible,” she explains. “That it doesn't matter what’s happened along the way and if you want something, you can go for it.”
Now that’s something to make noise about!
